With the rise of China’s international status, China now is attracting more attention from the world. Today, the press conference held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after the NPC and CPPCC offers a good opportunity for China to show the world what China looks like now. Besides, it also builds a bridge between China and the rest of the world. Therefore, the conference interpreting characterized by being diplomatic and political has a direct impact on shaping the image of China and stating China’s standpoints on domestic and international issues. Since the questions from media cannot be known in advance, there are no prepared materials for interpreters. So on the scene, interpreters need to adapt to the changing circumstance as soon as possible. In the March of 2014, on the press conference after the NPC and CPPCC, Premier Li Keqiang answered the questions from media related to finance, politics, environment, international relations, etc.Through describing and analyzing the process of simulated practice and parallel comparison, the simulated practice of this speech is analyzed from three layers, that is, sentence structure, explanation and logical processing. And this article aims to explore how interpreters make use of one major translation technique to transmit the main information of the speech and do their utmost to reproduce both the primary and secondary information through the combination of various techniques. Meanwhile, through parallel comparison, it will not only have a great impact on the author’s interpreting practices, but also give some feasible suggestions on interpreting skills and methods to the interpreting of similar or lower-level conferences.
