A Study On Interpretation Of Premier Wen’s Talk In The Press Conference During NPC And CPPCC Sessions From The Interpretive Theory

With the increasing speed of Chinese development, China gradually becomes the center of the world trade and communication. The rise of China and closely frequent international exchanges make various forms of press conference increasingly come out. Press conference, as an important form of international communication and cooperation, serves as a bridge of information between China and the rest of the world. The government of China hold Press conferences annually, especially during the National People’s Congress(NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC). Owing to the significance of the Press conferences, increasing emphases have been placed on PCI to let the world understand China better.This thesis makes the empirical analysis and classification of the Premier Wen Jiabao’s interpretations from2008to2012during the NPC and CPPCC sessions from the perspective of Interpretive Theory. Translation process is highly focused on the Interpretive Theory. There are three stages actually going through the interpretation: comprehension, deverbalization and re-expression. However, deverbalization is relatively the main component of Interpretive Theory. Interpretation is not only the conversion of language symbols, but also the communication of emotions and understanding. Through this thesis, it is obvious to find that:First of all, the Interpretive Theory is always throughout the interpretation process. What’s more, sense is the core of the Interpretive Theory. And strategies adopted in PCI from the perspective of Interpretive Theory include logic processing, sentence pattern transformation,logic-processing, information supplement, explanatory interpreting, and free translation.All in all, from the perspective of Interpretive Theory, the analysis of the interpretative cases are of highly significance. This thesis explores some valuable interpretative principles and methods on Interpretive Theory, which will inspire interpreters to better control the process of interpretation of the entire press conference.
