This thesis chose the Buddhism grotto art of Taian as the research object. The stage is from the late Northern dynasties to the Qing dynasty. This text is devoted to a brief account of the Taian grotto art of formation and development in a particular history, culture and geographical. It combined with the surrounding area Buddhist art ecology, Buddhism culture dissemination and several monks’ Buddhism activities communication.There are twenty-three caves in Taian Ellora Caves and mainly distributed in DongPing and Taian surrounding areas.This paper mainly studies the thirteen Buddhist grottoes’ art style.The thirteen Buddhism grotto statuaries are:Baifo mountain grottoes statues, Sili mountain grottoes statues,Liming net Bas-reliefs On Precipices, Huayan hole grottoes statues,Qingfeng mountain Bas-reliefs On Precipices,Yin mountain Bas-reliefs On Precipices,Lingquan temple Bas-reliefs On Precipices,Long mountain grottoes statues,Hua mountain Stone Carvings,Yin temple statue,Sheshenya Bas-reliefs On Precipices, the Pavilion roof Bas-reliefs On Precipices, Pipa mountain stone statues.Buddhist sculptures since the Song Dynasty began to decline. It is a very rare that the grottoes of Tai’an since the Qi Dynasty to Qing dynasties.Taian as the third largest buddhist center in Shandong. It influenced by the two Buddhist centers that are Jizhou and Qingzhou during the mediaeval times of China. It contains the same style in the unified Sui dynasty and it shows the localization of the unique personality with its connotation and forms. Among them, the ideology of Zen,Hua yan and pure land is not only the basis of the formation and development of the cases, and also have important influence to the grotto art of Taian.It reflects the coexist between the diversity and personality, the unification of the intension and form at the Buddhist culture and the arts and artistic image and creative.,...
