The Analysis Of Sheng Xing In Shuo Wen Jie Zi

Sheng xing is a kind of supplementary regulations which analyzs structure of the Chinese characters builded by Xu Shen in Shuo wen jie zi. Sheng xing refers to deletion of structure expressing meaning in the Chinese characters,which specific statement is "cong mou,cong mou sheng" or "cong mou sheng,mou sheng".The structure of the Chinese characters always expresses meaning directly as a king of Biao yi characters.Then Xu Shen summarized Sheng xing when Yi fu(or Xing fu) can’t contact with the meaning of characters.Consequently Sheng xing is of great importance for the study of philology.Sheng xing not only reveals intention on creating characters,but also help us understand motivation of character formation and master character-dividing method which unite structure and meaning from Xu Shen,which has aguiding significance for our studing Shuo wen jie zi.This paper analyzes 135 Sheng xing characters combining ancient writing material with research results of forefathers.First of all,we mainly introduce objective of the research,and lead academic value and significance of the topic from confirming Sheng xing category and motivation of character formation in the introduction part.Then we tease out main views of forefathers and point out their achievement and defects,and then summarize the history and status quo of this topic.Secondly,we take Shuo wen jie zi of Da xu edition as blueprint and divide Sheng xing characters into two parts while we assign it a method of analying character. One is the omission of original character,and the other is the omission of on prototype.We divide no prototype of the words of the province into two categories of reasonable and unreasonable,and also divide reasonableSheng xing characters into Sheng xing associative compound,Sheng xing phonogram and Sheng xing sole character.While for the unreasonable form of the word, we refer to the section, and turn the Chinese Dictionary to determine the shape,sound, meaning, and some of them should be analyzed pictographic or ideographic character, some properly analysis "cong mou, mou sheng" and some were advised to analysis "cong mou, mou sheng sheng",there are some doubtful cases that neither Sheng xing and Sheng sheng,or not even sure its Yi fu(or Xing fu).Finally, we explain the significance of Sheng xing from three aspects: the necessity of Sheng xing, the value of Sheng xing, and the deficiency of Sheng xing.The necessity of Sheng xing is not to explain the structure and meaning of the word unless it is in the form of Sheng xing regulations.The value of Sheng xing form is mainly about the enlightenment of the simplified Chinese characters and the teaching of literacy.As to the deficiency of the Sheng xing, we carry out the argument from three aspects: subjective and objective theoretical defects, the constraints of regulations of Shuo wen jie zi and limitations of the understanding of Xu Shen.
