The Analysis On “X JiuShi X”

The“X JiuShi(就是)X”structure has the same subject and object,so the academics call it as TongYushi(同语式).Based on the researches of the past and the present,we analyze“X JiuShi(就是)X”and its extended pattern“X JiuShi(就是)X,Y JiuShi(就是)Y”from the language form to the language meaning and the pragmatic value with the corpus analyses as the start,Xing Fuyi’s small triangle theory the framework,and Three full the research method,in order to have a more comprehensive and profound research on the sentence pattern.We believe that the words that can enter the structure of“X JiuShi(就是)X”and its extended pattern“X JiuShi(就是)X,Y JiuShi(就是)Y”should be either the nominal structures or the predicate structures.Among them,according to whether the nominal structures have the subjective additional meanings,we divide the nominal structures into two categories:the first are the ones of which the subjective additional significance is obvious;the second are the ones of which the subjective additional significance is not obvious.The predicate structures which can enter the structure of“X JiuShi(就是)X”are verbs,adjectives and some related phrases.The verbs which have the significance of the"action"are easier to access to the structure,and the adjectives which can enter into the structure are not modified by degree adverbs.At the same time,according to whether the significance of the structure is positive or not,we discuss the replacement of the“Jiu”.When the meaning is positive,the“DaoDi(到底)”could replace the“Jiu(就)”.Otherwise,it can not.We also analyze the syntactic structure of“X JiuShi(就是)X”which includes that it could be a sentence composition such as the object and that it can also be a sentence clause and that it can form a sentence alone as well.Regarding the semantics of the two Xs in the“X JiuShi(就是)X”structure,we illustrate the reason why the meaning of the two Xs give man different feelings through Decision structure theory.In“X JiuShi(就是)X”structure,the former X is determined,and the latter X is to determine.The determining structure is used to explain the determined structure.Therefore,the two Xs are homonyms,but the judging function of the latter X determines that its meaning different from the former X.It is pointed out that in the“X JiuShi(就是)X”structure,a certain type of word meaning of the two Xs is the same.The purpose of using this structure is to emphasize.And“JiuShi(就是)”is seen as the structure of“Jiu(就)plus Shi(是)”,of which“Jiu(就)”is the commentary adverb and“Shi(是)”is used to be a judging verb.We analyze the meaning of the structure,which expresses the meaning of emphasizing,explaining,compromising and so on.The reason why the“X JiuShi(就是)X”structure contains implication is that the speaker intends to break the rules of the cooperative principle.Although the structure implication is closely related to the different context,it is also the reflection of the mentality characteristics.Therefore,we discuss five kinds of the mentality characteristics when people use the“X JiuShi(就是)X”structure of which five kinds of the mentality characteristics are not only different,but also related.All of these make the structure become the one with rich connotations and intriguing meaning.
