Lu Xun In “People’s Daily” (1949-1976)

The phenomenons like respected, misread or misinterpreted about Lu Xun are always the striking things in the Lu Xun research area, and I name it as “different Lu Xun”.And if we discuss about the “Lu Xun phenomenon“ in 1949-1976,we will firstly face the most significant feature of this period whin the realm of thought, which showed the absolute respect for Lu Xun. The main purpose of this paper is to card and add up the articles in “People’s Daily”, and investigate the constructed and interpretation process about how Lu Xun became the great writer, ideologist and revolutionist. “the relationship between Lu Xun and Mao Zedong is highly wide and deep. In one word, they are the two sides of the nation.” Xiao Jun said. This words affirmed not only Lu Xun’s major influences on Chinese literary art, but also the Mao Zedong ‘s influences on Lu Xun and other Chinese contemporary Intellectual.During this period, Lu Xun and his spirit usually appeared as a "symbol". Mainstream ideology did the selective interpretation of the world of Lu Xun, and Established and strengthened the "proletarian culture" ideology which was adapt to the current political society with the help of Lu Xun. In the more and more extreme ideological cultural environment, the interpretation of Lu Xun changed from simplify to apotheosis, from specialized interpretation to interpretation of mass. And this interpretation showed two significance: The first, by the selective and exaggerated interpretation of the works of Lu Xun, they could criticize the enemies in political and cultural areas with the help of Lu Xun, such as Hu Shi, Zhou Yang, Confucius, Zhang Chunqiao and so on; The second, through the limited interpretation about the spirit of Lu Xun, it could become the ideological guidelines of the times, scilicet took simplified and deified Lu Xun as a thought symbol, and taught the society especially the intellectual. In the era of traditional media, Especially on the "People’s Daily" which is the the party’s most important and most authoritative media, the origin of Lu Xun research, the sources of Influences on the literary thought, was even more evident in the changing process. Therefore, it had the special meaning in the supplementary of research history of Lu Xun and the understanding of the construction of contemporary “Lu Xun” to discuss Lu Xun in “People’s Daily” in this period.In this paper, I collect the 247 articles which hold Lu Xun as the theme in “People’s Daily” from 1949-1976, and make a basic analysis of the author group. It’s not a simple sort in academic history and history of Journalism, but an analysis of the history of social thought. Consequently, based on specific data, I combine with major changes and debates in different periods of literary thought, seize the most significant trends changes and literary phenomenon, taking into propagation mechanism of “People’s Daily”, analyse the build process and text interpretations of “Lu Xun” in “People’s Daily”, probe the differences between his thought in his works and in “People’s Daily”.Generally believing, Lu Xun in “17 Years” period and the Cultural Revolution has great differences, but through our carding and analysis, we found that Lu Xun in two period is a process in which Lu Xun was constructed towards an established ideological roadmap, although there are great differences between the two, it has obvious continuity and similarity. Based on a large number of newspaper materials, I try to understand the whole image of Lu Xun in “People’s Daily” from1949 to 1976, describe a pedigree about “Lu Xun’s spirit” which were changing with the development of social politics and literary trends of thought, and further demonstrate the imagination and influences of “Lu Xun” who was constructed and strengthened with actors such as current politics, Lu Xun’s periphery, intellectuals, and general readers in “People’s Daily”.
