For a second language learner, vocabulary is the first important tool that they use to make a communication. A simple communication can be done without grammar, but it is not can do without vocabulary. It shows that vocabulary has the extremely important status in the second language teaching. Textbooks take an medium role in the second foreign language learning for the learners, the position of vocabulary in the textbook is obvious!Due to the prominent characteristics of Chinese vocabulary: polysemy and homonymy, the foreign language vocabulary research deserves more attention.Focus on promoting the level of Chinese teaching textbook writing, effectively improve the quality of textbook vocabulary, the paper chose the Practical Chinese Reader that the Commercial Press published in 1981 and the New Practical Chinese Reader which Beijing Language and Cultural University Press published in 2002.These two intermediate vocabulary teaching material as the research object, by comparing the difference between the two books, analysis and study the characteristics of the vocabulary, provide corresponding suggestions for Chinese teaching textbook writing for the middle phase.The paper divided into five chapters.The first chapter is Introduction. First of all, the author explain the reason of topic selection. It is start with the important of Chinese teaching by researching the characteristics of the Practical Chinese Reader and the New Practical Chinese Reader.Then comparing the two books and other Chinese teaching textbook on vocabulary part,analysis the status of these two sets.Finally,reviewed and concluded the research methods of the paper.The second chapter is the research of the quantity of vocabulary in the two books.At first, then author take a intensive investigation on each class and every unit of two books, summarize and analysis the vocabulary distribution characteristics. Studied hard and then, the author concluded all kinds of standards in many relative books and selected the authoritative evaluation criteria and evaluated the vocabulary amount oftwo books. In the end, according to comparison and analysis of research achievements of vocabulary quantity issue in the two books, the author make a conclusion.The third chapter is for the applied vocabulary comparative analysis research in two books. From two aspects of test application and communication vocabulary, the author selected the authoritative lexical level, examination vocabulary and common vocabulary to evaluated the two books.The forth chapter is the comparison analysis research on lexical repetition rate on the two books. The author evaluated two aspects of repetition frequency and repetition applicability, research and analysis the vocabulary repetition condition in the two books.The fifth chapter is the suggestion of Chinese teaching writing in vocabulary.Based on the comparison and analysis of the previous chapters, the author presented three suggestions in vocabulary quantity, applicability, vocabulary repetition rate.In the end, the author summarize her opinions, the innovation and the deficiency.
