Words are materials of constructing language. To second language learners, words learning exists their whole learning process, and intermediate class is the key to accumulate words. Textbook is the main tool of learning second language, and the learners always learn the main target language vocabulary based on the textbooks, so the accuracy of textbooks words explanation affects their understanding of vocabulary directly, the effect will throughout the learning process and then affects the overall effect of their learning. Due to the applicable objects’special nature of textbooks of teaching Chinese as the second language, when compiling words, compiler should pay attention to both of translation and annotation. However, the explanation of textbook, which is different from dictionary, is always influenced by differences of English and Chinese vocabulary itself, cultural differences, context and subjective factors of text compilers, thus there are still some problems more or less, and these problems have not been effectively addressed till now. Thus, this thesis takes the New Practical Chinese Reader <Intermediate> (edited by Liu Xun mainly) vocabulary list as the research object, adopts literature research, comparative analysis and qualitative analysis to investigate and analyze annotations and the problems which include unequal meaning and unmatched context in semantic, discrepant speech tagging and lack of the tagging of Liheci in grammar, and the differences of collocation and lack of the words’ color significance in pragmatic. According to the distribution and causes of the problem, more of the problems are reflected in pragmatic, they are mainly affected by the lifestyle, and way of thinking and cultural practices which formed from different natural and living environment, and result in complex and flexible culture and usage of vocabulary, so when analyze and translate words, the translator should give or raise the collocation of a certain word as needed. The problems of grammar, influenced by the bigotry of selecting meanings and translators’subjective consideration, words’part of speech are simple, but grammar is an important component of words, it should be pay more attention to. Although the problems in semantic accounts for just small proportion, for the impact on language environment and cultural background, there are many constraints in forming words’ semantic elements and selecting senses, this makes annotation more difficult, therefore, the translators should consider the basic meaning, extended meaning and cultural factors of Chinese and English words, and what’s more important, they need to depend on the context strictly to select semantic items.
