This is a report on a simulated consecutive interpreting. The source language material of the lecture chosen is given by an American scholar James Millward on “Silk Road in History and Today”. “One Belt and One Road” is China’s primary national strategy, which is of great significance for China’s future economic development. Thus, it has become a hot subject which scholars around the globe start to probe into. In this lecture, the lecturer relates the past and today of the Silk Road that provides people with a new way of thinking.This report focuses on the analysis of problems in interpreting and countermeasures. Firstly, to ensure the successful implementation of the task, the author makes some preparations in advance, for instance, getting to know the background information, searching for the relevant information, getting acquaintance with the lecturer’s background information and the environment of the lecture. The second part is the analysis of the material’s lexical and syntactical features. The third part is the main part of this report. Through analysis of the process of the simulated CI and comparison between the source text and the target language, the author finds out some problems in interpreting and puts forward corresponding solutions. It is hoped that the countermeasures mentioned in this report will be conducive to interpretation learners’ study.
