The mental health of college students had always been the issue of common concern. Negative emotions could cause bad influence to mental health. Effective regulatory emotional self-efficacy could do a positive impact on some bad emotions. Depression was considered to be a kind of negative emotions which was the individual cognition had threatened self-value. Depression was one of the most common bad emotions in college students. A bad state of regulatory emotional self-efficacy would increase the risk of depression. The purpose of this study was: to provide a theoretical intervention measure to mediate the college students’ negative emotions; to explore the current status of college students’ adult attachment, regulatory emotional self-efficacy, and depression and the relationships of them. 434 college students were selected randomly as subjects from Sichuan Normal University, Sichuan University and Leshan Normal University and so on.All the subjects had completed the intimacy experiencing Scale, regulatory emotional self-efficacy Scale and Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale. The statistical analysis was conducted on the collected data.The following conclusions were obtained from the statistical analysis findings: 1. Significant differences were found between the attachment anxiety and the sex variable of college students as well as all kinds of the adult attachment type and all dimensions of regulatory emotional self-efficacy, and there was no significant difference between the attachment avoidance and the sex variable of college students nor the depression;2. There were significant differences in the grade variable of college students among the attachment avoidance, POS and depression. There was no significant differences in the grade variable of college students among the attachment anxiety, DES and ANG; 3. Different majors’ students had significant differences in adult attachment, regulatory negative emotional self-efficacy and depression, and had no significant differences in regulatory positive emotional self-efficacy; 4. There was no significant differences in family(single or non-single child family) among adult attachment, regulatory emotional self-efficacy and depression;5. Different attachment types in regulatory emotional self-efficacy and depression had significant differences; 6. There were significant positive correlation between the two dimensions of adult attachment and depression. All dimensions of the regulatory emotional self-efficacy has an apparently negative correlation with depression and attachment avoidance. And there were significant negative correlation between the attachment anxiety and ANG or DES; 7. In the group of female college students and the whole of college students, regulatory positive emotional self-efficacy acted as the intervening variable between adult attachment and depression. Attachment avoidance effected on depression in part by regulatory positive emotional self-efficacy mediated. Attachment anxiety effected on depression in part by regulatory negative emotional self-efficacy mediated. Regulatory emotional self-efficacy was not a mediated variable for the group of female college students.
