Xu Yuanchong’s Three-Beauty Principle has been widely used in the field of poem, prose as well as advertisement translation. And it is well recognized and researched by translators because of its perfect translation theory and works. However, it is scarcely employed in folk song translation. Because poem translation and folk song translation teem with sense, sound and form beauty, the translation of them should also retain the original color.Folk songs not only record the life of local people, but also convey the characteristics of regional culture. And the natural and plain words, rich content together with special singing style are worth further researching and studying. Given this, its translation is a good way for conserving and introducing the Chinese culture to the world. However, since the founding of People’s Republic of China, the study of folk song translation has not been paid enough attention so that neither the translation theory nor its works is perfect. Wang Hongyin’s Voice From The Northwest makes a breakthrough in 2009 after nine years’ hardworking. His work gets a lot of attention and appreciation, which makes a great contribution to the development of folk song translation.Based on this book, the thesis tries to give typical examples of folk songs to study the representation of the original beauty in sense, sound and form in its translation. And it is hoped that more works of folk songs can be translated with the original beauty under the guidance of Xu Yuanchong’s Three-Beauty Principle.
