Research On The Establishment Of The Japan’s Symbolic Tennoism And The Role Of The Mikado After The WWⅡ

After World War II, under the influence of the United States, Japan established the symbolic Tennoism System, and politics of the country began to move toward democratization, modernization. However, in recent years as the conservative politicians like Abe Shinzō came to power, the overall trend of Japanese society tends to be conservative, and this situation is closely related to existence of the Mikado as the core a symbol of Tennoism.Symbolic Tennoism System is the result of multi-party fights and compromise. In Japan, not only the Japanese bureaucratic group and the Mikado himself desperately wants to maintain Tennoism state system,but also political parties and the general public in Japan highly supported the Tennoism system. Although the US government has decided to retain the Tennoism System, in their opinion,Tennoism shall be reformed and used by their government. As a symbol of Tennoism established symbol,the "Constitution of Japan" reveals conflicts between the United States Japan during the process of drafting and enactment. The participation of the International Committee make the drafting and enactment process "Constitution of Japan" more complicated. promulgated by the US-drafted, modified by Japan,which adopted the suggestions of the Far East Commission, " Constitution of Japan" eventually is established as the symbol of the Emperor System in 1946. Compared with the Mikado of the prewar Meiji Constitution system, the Mikado of the Japanese Constitution is no longer the inviolable “People of God” or the summit of Japan’s political authority. The Mikado must get the parliament’s approval if he wants to use the royal expenditure. The Imperial Household Law which is only appropriate for the royalty is controlled by the new constitution. And its content is also reduced to half. However, the regulation of the new constitution about Mikado exists much contradiction. It makes Mikado and the Mikado system still play an important part in the development of the postwar Japan.In the history of Japan, Mikado and Tennoism has always played an important role, especially the Mikado as the core existence of Tennoism. With the passage of history the Mikado gradually formed to have three main functions, namely the role of Emperor totem, the role of authority and recognition. After the war, these roles still continue to function via Mikado,which connects the history and reality. For example, it is used as the magic weapon by the conservative Japanese politicians to divert focus of politic fights, used by royal diplomacy to improve Japan’s international image, and used by the conservative forces to implement the new nationalism and so on. Moreover, in the post-war modern world, Mikado plays the role of culture heritage.
