Translation And Dissemination Of Chinese Contemporary Literature In Germany 2009-2014

In the background of globalization and the "going abroad" strategy of Chinese culture, the translation and dissemination of Chinese contemporary literature cannot be ignored in the world. In Germany the translation and dissemination of Chinese literature experienced many ups and downs. Although the contemporary Chinese literature is at the edge in the German book market, the translation and dissemination of Chinese contemporary literature have further developed. In particular, there were two events, namely China’s participation of the Frankfurt Book Fair 2009 as the guest of honor and Mo Yan’s achievement of the Nobel Prize in literature in 2012. which have brought enormous impetus to the dissemination of Chinese literature in Germany and in the world.This paper attempts to research on the translation, dissemination and reception of contemporary Chinese literature since the book fair in Germany, and analyze the development tendency of contemporary Chinese literature in Germany. This paper is divided into six chapters. After a short introduction, the second chapter elaborates on the reception of Chinese contemporary literature from three aspects in Germany, which are the main media, the German sinology and German readers. In addition, the influences of the two events mentioned above for the dissemination of contemporary Chinese literature are analyzed. The third chapter focuses on the dissemination of contemporary Chinese literature in the German literary fields. After the presentation of the literary fields this chapter analyses concretely the main dissemination channels of contemporary Chinese literature and the selection of literary themes. Chapter four describes the translation of the contemporary Chinese literature in Germany, where five categories of contemporary Chinese literature are classified, so that an overview of the most frequently translated Chinese works and their writers in the last five years in Germany can be given.And in chapter five, the important factors such as the China image in Germany and the cultural and linguistic differences are analyzed, of which the literary translation are strongly influenced. Furthermore, this chapter sets forth the problems and difficulties of literary translation and the abilities of translators. In the final part of this paper the translation and dissemination of contemporary Chinese literature in Germany are summarized. Then some suggestions for the better dissemination of Chinese contemporary literature abroad are put forward.
