Self-love refers to one’s active attention, active maintenance and initiative improvement on one’s physical and spiritual existence. Based on self-concerns, self-care and self-acceptance, self-love prompts one to live upward, defend his achievements,improve himself and realize himself.Undergraduates are in a forming-firming period of their outlook on life and viewpoint of value, during which undergraduates care most about attitude towards life,lifestyle, and survival value and so on. A lot of undergraduates lost themselves in these relatively open, relaxed living and studying environment. News report about undergraduates addicting to online games, gambling, smoking, drinking, anxiety,depression, killing or being killed can be seen every day. But in universities’ educational practice, the point is expertise, not even a class about self-love was heard.Even though some teachers want to know about undergraduates’ self-love, they can find any effective and reliable instrument, so as to that no way for universities to begin figuring out undergraduates’ self-love.Based on the review of domestic and foreign literature, this study studied undergraduates in Chongqing, developed a questionnaire of self-love for Chongqing undergraduates, so that undergraduates’ psychological structure, characteristics and status qua of self-love can be known. The relationship between undergraduates’ self-love and parental rearing style, self-efficacy had been analyzed. The final part had made some suggestions so that universities can take to improve undergraduates’ self-love.Conclusions of this study:(1) Undergraduates’ self-love consists of five dimensions. They are self-care,self-acceptance, self-appreciation, self-improvement and self-defending. Upon testing,the questionnaire of undergraduates’ self-love was highly reliable and valid, which means the questionnaire can measure undergraduates’ self-love effectively.(2) In general, undergraduates’ self-love was above the average. Average scores on self-defending were the highest and average scores on self-acceptance were the lowest.(3) Girl’ scores on self-defending were significantly higher than boys’.(4) There were no significant grade differences in undergraduates’ self-love.(5) There were no significant major differences in undergraduates’ self-love.(6)Undergraduates from key universities scored higher in self-improvement than non-key undergraduates.(7)Significant correlations were found between undergraduates’ self-love and parental rearing styles. Rearing styles of affection-wormed, rejection-denial,punishment-sternness can significantly predict undergraduates’ self-love.(8)Significant correlations were found between undergraduates’ self-love and self-efficacy, undergraduates’ self-appreciation and self-defending positively predict self-efficacy.(9)Self-appreciation is a partial mediator between mother’s affection-wormed rearing style and undergraduates’ self-efficacy, while self-defending is a partial mediator between undergraduates’ self-efficacy and mother’s two rearing styles, which are affection-wormed and punishment-sternness.
