Special school students are a group of special children group, although there is a physiological disorder, but like other normal students, is in the body gradually matures, psychological and personality traits of life is the critical period of development. As a social vulnerable groups, Special school students not only bears the difficulties brought about by the body or organ damage, but also may be accompanied by anywhere from spiritual secondary damage. Therefore, Special school students’ mental health status and its development trend is worth attention. This study attempts to compile special school students’ mental health questionnaire, investigating the mental health status and its characteristic, provide theoretical guidance for special school students mental health education and based on facts, the ultimate goal is for special school student’s physical and social function rehabilitation and compensation provide a powerful psychological support, promote the better social integration.Empirical research of this paper is divided into two parts: the first part, a study on related literature first, open questionnaire and expert questionnaire, combining with the existing scale of the relevant items of the questionnaire structure determination and questionnaire items of the system, and then the questionnaire item analysis and factor analysis, to determine the empirical structure of the questionnaire, and the reliability test and validity test was carried out on the questionnaire, finally formed with good reliability and validity, especial school students mental health questionnaire, can be used as a special school students mental health evaluation and further related research tools.The second part, the investigation through the use of special school students’ mental health questionnaire on 1071 special school students, the data input to the effective questionnaires were taken back spss18.0 software, statistical analysis of the special school for mental health status of students in the demographic variables(gender, grade, type of disorder, intellectual level, degree of disability, family structure, whether the only child, parents’ education way) on the differences and characteristics. The study briefly as follows:(1) about the questionnaire.The results show that the self-made special school students mental health questionnaire with self-awareness, learning adaptability, interpersonal relationship, life adaptation and frustration experience of these 5 dimensions, a total of 24 questions. The internal consistency reliability of the questionnaire was 0.859, the test-retest reliability was 0.804, and the strengths and difficulties questionnaire related validity is-0.658. The reliability and validity are in conformity with the standard.(2) on the present situation investigation. No significant sex differences in mental health, but in the grade, the types of barriers, intellectual level, the degree of disability, family structure, whether the one-child and parenting styles variables exist significant differences. Thus, according to the results of this research reveals the differences of characteristics, draw lessons from previous for special school students’ mental health education of relevant suggestions and strategies, the researchers put forward five suggestions of special school students’ mental health education.
