The translation material, CREATE A PIPELINE OF COST IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS: The Secret to Protecting the Heart of Your Business, is the 12 th chapter of The Lean Six Sigma Guide to Doing More with Less: Cut Costs, Reduce Waste and Lower Your Overhead. This chapter mainly describes how to create a pipeline of cost improvement projects in Lean Six Sigma process.The translation report is based on this translation material, including four parts. The first part is the description of translation task, which includes the material resource, the brief introduction of the author and the book, as well as the meanings. The second part introduces the translation process, consisting of the preparation for translation, the difficulties as well as the checking, polishing and confirming. The translator has read the translation material for several times and referred to several books on Lean Six Sigma management. During the translation process, the translator adopted literal translation as well as free translation. After finishing the translation, the translator revised the work several times with help of supervisor and classmates. The third part, which is the most important one, analyzes some cases from the perspectives of lexicon, syntax and context, trying to find the translation methods of the economic management text. The fourth part is the summary of this translation practice.By writing this report, the translator not only learns more about the Lean Six Sigma, but also has a deeper understanding of translation, the translators’ responsibilities and qualities, which laid a foundation for the translator’s career advancement in the future.
