| The translation project studied in this report is excerpts from Sheryl Sandberg＇ sAutobiography Lean in: Women, Work and the will to Lead, which has expressive and functionalfunction text. In the whole translation report, both semantic translation and communicativetranslation play important roles.Semantic translation and communicative translation are the core concept of the famoustranslator Newmark, which occupies a vital position among all the translation theories. Semantictranslation and communicative translation both have their own advantages, the former means thatthe sentence meaning or the semantic structure are almost the same in the target language and thesource language; the latter means that the effects caused by the target language are the same withthe source language. Semantic translation focuses on the thinking processes of the original text,and strives to maintain the original features and style. However, communicative translation is totry to convey information to allow the target readers to comprehend the connotation and mainidea of the original text. Therefore, semantic translation and communicative translation are oftenused together to make the translation work achieve the best effect.The translation report covers four parts: The first part describes the text source, introducesthe text content and analyzes the text; The second part introduces the translation process,including the preparatory work before translation, translation and revision of the text and writingthe report; The third part is the analysis of the translation task, which mainly analyzes thefeatures of autobiography and the example of cases that are translated by semantic translationand communicative translation; The fourth part reflects and summarizes the translation process.Through combining theory with practice, the report systematically summarizes the aspects thatshould be noted in the translation process of such literature, as well as some related translationstrategies. |
