The Study On Lu Zhiyu And Lu Zhiyu’s Poetry

Lu Zhiyu had experienced Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong dynasty. Half of his life he was a hermit, half of his life he was ups and downs in the officialdom. Sinking in poverty, illness and misfortune, he lost his wife and children, but when he was old he still wrote poems saying that Don’t sympathized with my past, I would never change my mind(Respond to Zhong-chen Wu on Hospital Test). Lu Zhiyu is a legendary poet. Lu Zhiyu’s exsiting production include twenty volumes of poems, fifteen volumes of collected works, and books such as Jing Shi Ti Gang, Shu Fa Gou, Ming Shi Chao, Chang Lu Yan Fa Zhi and Xia Jin Nan Dao Zhi, which covers a wild range from Jing Xue to histry, from calligraphy to painting, from astronomy to geography, from military to legislation, from farming to water conservancy. He is a prolific poet. However, it is a pity that Lu Zhiyu’s literature had been proibit by Qing Dynasty because of literary inquisition, so he is also an obscure poet who is unknown by the world. Based on Yuan Mei’s Shu Lu Liangchai, now the studies on Lu Zhiyu are mostly focused on Lu Zhiyu’s anecdotes or his life experience, on the other hand, the studies on his association with friends or poetry are still insufficient. Lu Zhiyu’s familly background, association with friends, life experience, poetry content and artistic features will be described in this dissertation in order to fill in the gaps. The dissertation is mainly divided into the following parts:Introduction is the discussion of the purpose and significance of the study, summarize current research on Lu Zhiyu.Chapter 1 is the textual research on Lu Zhiyu’s familly background, association with friends and life experience. By adsorbing and integrating the previous research results and Lu Zhiyu’s poems, this part is dedicated to supplementing the deficiencies and correcting the errors in the study of Lu Zhiyu. Chapter 2 is the analysis of Lu Zhiyu’s poetry content. The first period summarizes the whole situation and creation style of Lu Zhiyu’s poetry. The second period discourses Lu Zhiyu’s poems from three aspects including the natural scenery and travel poem, the pastoral and reclusive poem and the poem which is to express his feelings and mood. Chapter 3 is the study on artistic characteristics of Lu Zhiyu’s poetry. The first part is mainly to summarize Lu Zhiyu’s poetic views, the second part is to introduce the artistic characteristics of his poetry which is mainly about a rhyme of round and following, the last part is the value and shortcomings of his poetry, the value is mainly reflected in the artistic image of the heart-homeless poet in his poetry and his development of poetry artistic conception.
