Currently, in Public English teaching in higher vocational colleges, teachers are facing a number of problems such as students’low interest in English learning, lack of both chance and ability to practice what they have learned, shortage of teaching hours and high volume of teaching task.This paper puts forward the necessity of applying ISAS which is originated from computer personnel training to Public English teaching in vocational colleges based on the goals of Public English teaching in vocational colleges, the learning interests and habits of these students and taking into consideration interests of research both domestic and abroad. This paper approaches the characteristics and advantages of ISAS and guided by Constructive Language Learning Theory and presents the feasibility of its application. This paper, elaborating on the mode of ISAS application and problems that need attention, concludes the six steps of implementing ISAS in vocational colleges.From the teaching practices and the data results, it is found that the application of ISAS in Public English in vocational colleges is not only helpful in improving the students’team playing consciousness and abilities, but also contributive to students’learning initiative as well as increasing students’excellence of expression and communication. By the periodical research results we found that the effective implementation of ISAS in Public English teaching has not only driven the students’learning interests, but highlighted their benefit from English they have learned in college in future career life. In addition, it raises higher demand to both the students and teacher. The students’comprehensive quality and initiative will affect the teaching directly. The teacher should guide properly, monitor effectively and the teaching aided by a correct and efficient evaluating system.We explore a teaching mode different from the traditional way and look forward to providing some suggestions or reference for the innovation of higher Vocational College English teaching.
