The prison novel in the 1980 s in which it is popular has catched the eye of mainland scholars. It is until 1990 s that it was still discussed by many scholars. In the 21 st Century, with the rise and rampant development of ideological trend of contemporary Taiwanization, “Ruralization” and “localization”, “Chinese consciousness” and “Taiwanese consciousness” were intertwined. The prison novel, as a field of full ambiguity and anxiety, has basically faded out the attention of mainland scholars.Firstly, the history of the left-wing movement in Taiwan region since China has been invaded by the Japanese will be briefly introduced and the facts of left-wing writers being in prison will be macroscopicly presented. To heal the trauma in spirit, left-wing writers made persistent efforts to create many literary works with strong realistic reflection and social criticism which built harbors for the rest of soul.In the next place, the emerging of reasons for the prison novel in the 1980 s from analyzing the theme “ drifting ” of Chen Yingzhen, Wang Tuo and Yang Qingchu reveals the important impacts of “Geohiong events” on it. At the same time, this paper will explain the reasons for the decline of the prison novel before and after the Lifting of Martial Law from the perspective of politics, society and writers as individuals.Finally, this paper will explore different embodiment of shaping image of subjects in prison novels resulted from the separation of traditional left-wing groups based on the left-wing perspective from the angel of “ruralization” and “localization” for the purpose of providing a reference to clear out complex rheological oriented and ideas of prison novels in Taiwan region in the 1980 s. Many scholars such as Ye Shitao had an one-sided exaggeration of contradictions between provinces taking the position of “localization” to make the media of novels dissimilating into “localization”. Traditional left-wing writers like Chen Yingzhen shaped the image of youth with firm socialist faith and pursuit from the perspective of social criticism under the guidance of history on the present which have important realistic meaning and historical reflection.
