The author used questionnaires and interviewed with some overseas students in Kunming’s universities to do a research on Kunming’s overseas students’ cultural adaptation. The author do the research from three dimensions, which are mental, social and academic and from these three dimensions to discuss whether the length, the distance of two the cultures (students’ home culture and Chinese culture) and the students’ acculturation will affect overseas students’ cultural adaptation and if those do the author will help solve the problems. After analyzing, the author found the longer overseas students stay the better they adapt. And students from western countries have better adaption than those from Asian countries. The most common acculturation strategies that overseas students used when they are learning Chinese are integration and assimilation which both are good strategies in learning Chinese. After interviewing the students and Chinese teachers the author found the difficulties that overseas students met are not very serious, for example, having too much home work, having troubles understanding classes when teachers give classes in Chinese at the early stage, and having troubles finding food is satisfying. Though, those difficulties are not serious they affect overseas students’ life and study. At the end of the paper the author gave four teaching strategies, improving overseas students’ understanding of local culture, elevating overseas students’ efficiency on interacting with local people, increasing more opportunities for overseas students to interact with local people and culture and elevating overseas students’ participation in class, hoping to solve some overseas students’ problems.
