The Generalization Of The Kinship Terms Between South Korea And China And The Comparative Research Of The Cultural Connotations

The generalization of the Kinship Terms is a very common phenomenon during the modern social linguistic development, which is characterized by kinship terms that refers to the ones of non-kinship. The generalization of kinship terms has been widely used, which is not only applicable among neighbors, relatives, but also between strangers. The widespread usage of kinship terms generalization is able to narrow the psychological distance with others, fit for the ethnic norms, which is indispensable language elements in our living modern society. This paper focused on analyzing the phenomenon of kinship terms generalization between South Korea and China. South Korea and China are not only geographically adjacent, but also have a lot of similarities in language and culture. Meanwhile, generalization phenomenon of kinship terms has emerged early in both countries, and with the development of the society, this phenomenon is widely used. On the issue of kinship terms generalization, there are many similarities between South Korea and China, while since the influence of language and culture may also many differences, the research on kinship terms generalization of the two countries will not only contribute to the understanding of this phenomenon, and also help the Korean and Chinese students to learn both languages.The first chapter in this paper is the introduction which explained the purpose and significance; it has simply summarized the previous researches of Kinship terms generalization from three aspects, which is the relevant Korean, Chinese usage; contrast of Korean-Chinese; contrast of Korean and other languages. At the same time, it also introduced the results of previous studies on the relationship between culture and kinship term, and clarified the object of study and research methods.The second chapter is mainly from the concept and meaning. The first part describes the concept of kinship terms, in order to understand the kinship generalization phenomenon we must understand the concept of kinship first, and thus understand further about the concept of kinship generalization. The second part analyzes kinship terms usage in four aspects. First, analyzed the usage situation of kinship terms from the grandparents seniority respectively, then described the usage among the parents and their same generation, our generation and younger generation successively.The third part of the study has compared the usage of Kinship terms generalization between South Korea and China by studying the phenomenon in the two countries. Firstly, analyzation ofthe subject and object used in Kinship terms generalization between South Korea and China; Secondly, comparison of Kinship terms generalization between the two countries; Finally, comparison of using range in Kinship terms generalization.Chapter 3 of this paper has started from the perspective of culture and the cultural connotations reflected through the analyzation in in Kinship terms generalization between South Korea and China. Different cultural heritage has formed different language characteristics, by analyzing the socio-cultural phenomenon will help us better understand the characteristics of usage in Kinship terms generalization between South Korea and China.The fourth chapter is the conclusion, there are plenty of studies on Kinship terms between South Korea and China, but only few of comparative study for the generalization of Kinship Terms, and the comparative research combined the analyzation of generalization phenomenon with cultural connotations needs further. The author hopes that this paper could provide some help for the learners from both countries in language learning and also provide a better reference in kinship terms generalization issues.
