The Research Of Miao Opera In Huayuan Hunan Provincef Rom The Perspective Of Folklore

Miao Opera, as one of the Chinese minority ethnic dramas and a typical cultural representative of Miao ethnic group in Huayuan, with its national and local features, is very popular in Huayuan county, Xiangxi autonomous prefecture, Hunan province. At the beginning of its history, as a folk ethnic drama, Miao Opera was closely connected with folk cultures of Miao. This kind of close relationship can be showed in the following three aspects:Firstly, Miao Opera is derived from the folk, and developed with the folk, i.e. the folk culture of Miao is the origin for Miao Opera; Secondly, the folk culture of Miao enriched the contents and methods of expression of the artistic Miao Opera; Thirdly, the Miao Opera recorded the history and preserved the folk culture of Miao, which can be regarded as a channel of the folk culture transmission of Miao.The main body of this thesis is composed of following four chapters:Chapter one introduces the history of Miao Opera in Huayuan. It dates back to the origin of Miao Opera, analyses the development course of Miao Opera and explores the developing rules and motivation of Miao Opera.Chapter two explores the organization costume and inheritance costume of Miao Opera in Huayuan.It introduces the organization, operation, the place and time of its performance by professional and part-time group of Miao Opera.Beside these, the mode of inherence and transmission spectrum of Miao Opera are entailed.Chapter three researches on the relationship between the scenario of Miao Opera and folk culture of Miao in Huayuan, which can be illustrated from the aspects of material folk culture, societal folk culture, the spiritual folk culture and language folk culture. The fusion of Miao Opera and folk culture intensively and vividly reveals the local customs of Miao ethnic group, and it is not only conducive to the emotional communication, cultural exchange and people’s moral education, but also revitalizes the growing soil for Miao Opera itself.Chapter four analyses the relation between stage art of Miao Opera and folk culture of Miao ethnic group in Huayuan, and its relationship, especially, with the music, performance and stage art. The stage art of Miao Opera may indicate the folk features, local characteristics and living vitality of Miao ethnic group.From the perspective of folk culture, this thesis mainly researched on the relationship and mutual effects between Miao Opera and the folk culture it derived from the Miao ethnic area in Huayuan.Apart from that, it also investigates the positive effects on the development of Miao Opera from the perspectives of the integration of the performance of Miao Opera with folk festivals of Miao, and dramatic art of Miao Opera with folk culture of Miao ethnic group. In the end, this research may enlighten and be conducive to Miao Opera and other minority ethnic group drama that are confronted with survival and developing dilemma.
