In the compilation of medical textbooks, according to statistics, until 2013, only 51 relevant medical translation textbooks were published in China, and translation from English into Chinese are in the majority, about 24 copies. But with the continuous deepening of reform and opening up and development of science and technology in China, our medical translation textbooks need to be improved urgently. Clinical toxicology is a discipline developed in pharmacology and toxicology and it closely related to clinical medicine and pharmacy. Though Guangxi Medical University is in a relatively leading position, with certain practice foundation in the translation study of toxicology, it still lacks a classic textbook for teaching. In 2015, Jiang Yueming, the professor of School of Public Health in Guangxi Medical University, approved to be the editor in chief of National College textbook clinical toxicology (first edition, People’s Medical Publishing House,2016). He organize more than 70 professors and experts from more than 46 universities including Peking University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University and others participate in editor. Professor Jiang Yueming also organized students to translate the monograph clinical toxicology (2nd edition), written by the United States toxicology expert, Frank A. Barile. This translation project has important significance in the compilation of medical textbooks and the development of the teaching level for the Public Health School of Guangxi Medical University. This report discusses the "Clinical Toxicology" Translation Project. The book "Clinical Toxicology" includes three parts:basic toxicology, therapeutic drug toxicity, non-therapeutic drug toxicity. This report only involves the translation of the first three chapters of the first part, which are risk assessment and management toxicology, therapeutic monitoring of drug side effects, the human toxin classification. This report is divided into six parts:The first part is about the brief introduction of toxicology and the translation project. The second part is to introduce the translation project. The third section describes the preparatory work before the translation. The fourth part introduces the translation of medical vocabulary, complex sentences, and machine assisted translation in medical translation. The corresponding translation strategies are discussed. The fifth part includes proofreading, self-assessment and summary of the whole translation process. The report shows that based on the theory of functional equivalence, in the medical pharmaceutical text translation, the translator should attach great importance to the accuracy, rigor and logical coherence in the course of translation. It also needs to take into consideration whether the text translation should stay in line with the customary wording in medical field. It is hoped that this report could function as a translation reference to similar articles in medical translation.
