The Agriculture Technology Transfer Program, with agricultural technology from China and financial support from the UK, was launched for facilitating the sharing of successful agricultural experience with developing countries in Africa, thus improving their agricultural productivity and secure food security of poor people. Technical assistance was also provided to develop the tilapia industry of Malawi. A delegation of 12 people from Malawi took a fieldtrip to Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to learn its tilapia culture models from July 10 to 13,2015.The author provided part of the interpreting service for the delegation’s fieldtrip and relevant meetings. This report was written to analyze the difficulties appeared during interpreting and search for better coping tactics based on the tapescripts and relevant theories. The report contains five chapters, getting started with the background introduction of the task. Chapter 2 is pre-interpreting analysis and preparation. In Chapter 3, based on Effort Model and Interpretive Theory, the author chooses some typical cases to analyze the interpreting difficulties, including high pressure, Malawi accent, numbers and different quantifiers in Chinese and English, unfamiliar terminologies, etc., for searching the causes of the problems and better coping tactics. Chapter 4 shows the author’s post-interpreting self-evaluation and feedback of clients. A conclusion and some suggestions are made in Chapter 5. The author hopes this report could be helpful for her fellow practitioners when encountering similar problems.
