With China's growing influence on the international arena,China witnesses an increase in the number of foreign affairs activities,and thus in the interpreting activities.Interpreting activity can effectively promote information circulation and improve communication effect among countries,and it is attracting more and more attention.As one of the basic theories of interpreting,the Interpretive Theory of Translation is of great significance in solving the difficulties encountered in interpreting process and in formulating coping tactics.This paper is based on the interpreting practice of the author in the Guangdong21 st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo in Dongguan,Guangdong Province.Under the direction of the Interpretive Theory,the author complied with the the Interpretive Theory of Translation and overcame lots of difficulties when fulfilling her task,both linguistic or non-linguistic,which bettered her performance.In this paper,the author makes an analysis of her interpreting practice.First of all,this paper will give a comprehensive description of this task,including the background of the task and the pre-task preparation.Then this paper will discuss the difficulties the author encountered and different coping tactics the author used including free translation,explanation,enquiry and omission in the Expo under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory.Finally,the paper will make a conclusion.The author hopes,through this paper,to find more strategies to promote her interpreting skills and give references to future interpreting workers.
