The fast economic development and deepening reform and opening up have increasingly involved China in the communication with other countries around the world. Traditional Chinese rituals are interesting and unique. Therefore, this paper chooses the Tsinghua University Open Course as a case for analysis. After simulating the C-E consecutive interpreting of this course, the author reflected on this practice, analyzed the difficulties and summarized some interpreting strategies, hoping to give some perspectives in the interpretation of culture-loaded texts.Based on the cultural schema theory, this paper conducts an analysis of the interpreting strategies, when schema equivalency, schema divergence and schema deficiency occur respectively. If two cultures share schema equivalency, effective communication is highly possible. However, in the case of schema divergence and schema deficiency, effective communication is less possible or even impossible. In this situation, the interpreter needs to reconstruct and reproduce the cultural schemata of the source language in the target language. To address the difficulties in interpreting, including classical lines, allusion, and culture-loaded words etc., the thesis proposes some solutions for the preparation phrase and on-site production phrase. The suggested interpreting strategies include literal translation, transliteration plus annotation and paraphrase. It is the author’s hope that the solutions could also be applied to the interpreting practice of other similar texts.
