"International Women of Courage Awards" is one of the important and meaningful events held annually in Washington D.C, aiming at honoring women of courage from around the world and has made remarkable progress in advancing the development of women and girls. The E-C consecutive interpreting of this event opens a window for the Chinese audience, granting them the opportunity to know the outside world as well as the courageous action those honorees have taken. Thus it’s both worthwhile and meaningful.Although this kind of interpreting contains some difficulties, this thesis starts with the perspective of Skopos, following the major three principals of "Skopos, Coherence and Fidelity", and analyses specific examples of interpreting; it puts forward some practical strategies or skills according to different cases, and studies some inappropriate cases for further improvement. This paper aims to get deeper understanding of the interpreting of such events, summarizing some useful techniques that interpreters may use, and most importantly, to make a small share of contribution to this field of interpreting. |
