As a special kind of vocal music genres, “Ave Maria” has its own unique charm, because it originated from western religious music and has all the characteristics of art music. In each period of the music history, the composers wrote “Ave Maria” not only to show the reverence, faith and praise to Maria, but to perform the human’s emotional and spiritual connotation for every era. The kind of music also showed the composers’ artistic embodiment in ideals, ideas and feelings. “Ave Maria” plays an important role in the vocal music teaching and western musician history.The art music with the theme of religion “Ave Maria” is selected as the study object in this paper. The application in vocal music teaching is adopted as the study perspective and three Ave Maria songs composed by Caccini, Schubert and Gounod respective are chosen as the specific examples. Point-Line-Surface-Multi-dimension teaching method is discussed as the support theory. By defining and constructing the connotation of “Point, Line, Surface, Multi-dimension” in the vocal music, the author analyzed, investigated and deeply mining the creation background, music features, singing style and skills of the three Ave Maria song with detail. The author tried to describe and summarize the common features and differences among the series of art music “Ave Maria”. The research of this paper laid a solid and strong foundation for the vocal music learners to sing the series of art songs, “Ave Maria” more accurately and wonderfully. Meanwhile, the vocal music teachers and learners will pay more attention to the series of art music “Ave Maria” and its roles in the vocal music teaching after reading this paper.The paper has eight chapters.The first chapter is introduction. The research status in China and abroad of “Ave Maria” art music is summarized. The research objectives, content, significance and the innovation of this paper are given discussed is this chapter.The second chapter analyzes the research source of “Ave Maria”. The origin and development of “Ave Maria” in the history are first concluded and discussed in this chapter. The prominent position of “Ave Maria” is described based on two aspects, the history of western music and vocal music teaching, which will help the learners generally understand the cultural background and important value of “Ave Maria”.The third chapter gives the definition of “Point, Line, Surface, Multi-dimension” based teaching method. This chapter discusses the content of this teaching method from the theory definition and the connotation in vocal music.The fourth chapter discusses the “Point” construction of “Ave Maria” in vocal music teaching. Three Ave Maria songs composed by Caccini, Schubert and Gounod respective are selected as the research samples to complete the “Point” construction of “Ave Maria” in vocal music teaching, which aims to help the vocal music learners know the creation background, times background, text content et al., and more accurately and better grasp and deal with the song.The fifth chapter discusses the “Line” construction of “Ave Maria” in vocal music teaching. Three Ave Maria songs composed by Caccini, Schubert and Gounod respective are selected as the research samples to describe the “Line” construction of “Ave Maria” in vocal music teaching, which aims to help the vocal music learners process and master the singing of phrases in the “Ave Maria”. The “Points” in the songs are accumulated, lined and systemize integrated, which will lay a solid foundation for the completely process of the single music song.The sixth chapter discusses the “Surface” construction of “Ave Maria” in vocal music teaching. Three Ave Maria songs composed by Caccini, Schubert and Gounod respective are selected as the research samples to describe the “Surface” construction of “Ave Maria” in vocal music teaching, which aims to describe the connection method of phrases in Ave Maria. The singers should sing the phrases smoothly and pay attention to the annotation of “Points” simultaneously, and complete the singing of single song at last.The seventh chapter discusses the “Multi-dimension” construction of “Ave Maria” in vocal music teaching. This chapter completes the “Multi-dimension” construction based on musical characteristics and singing style. The “Multi-dimension” construction of art music “Ave Maria” aims to review and summarize the common or difference of music characteristic and singing style among series of Ave Maria songs belongs to the same category. The music learners will complete the kind of vocal music songs at last.The eighth chapter is the conclusion of the paper. This chapter gives conclusion and prospect of the research of the paper.
