Several Time Structures Led By The Preposition "Cong(从)"

This thesis is base on the corpus in Center for Chinese Linguistics PKU.It focus on the time structures led by the preposition "cong"(从),such as "从X起","从x开始","从 X到Y","从X以来","从X以后".The whole thesis contribute to the analysis of the semantics,the grammatical functions,the syntactic functions,the time periods,the predicate verbs and the contents of "X" of the time structure above all.Include the preface,it is composed of five chapters.The first chapter is a introduction.It is summarized the previous researches of the preposition "cong"(从),the research interests,the methodology.and the corpus’s source of this thesis.Chapter two mainly about the time structure "从X起", we also discussed about when "qi"(起)is necessary and when it can be omitted,the differences among the time structure" 从X起" and "从X开始".Chapter three discusses the time structure "从X到Y".Chapter four about the time structure "从X以来" and "从X以后".At last,it draws a conclusion.on the part of the grammatical function,those time structures are independent grammatical components.Most of them can act as the adverbial modifier and the attributes of a sentence.The time structure "从X到Y" can also act as the subject and the object of a sentence.The time structures "从X起" and "从X开始"expresses four time periods,The time structure "从X到Y" expresses five time periods,the time structure "从X以后" expresses three time periods,however,the time structure "从X以来" just expresses only one time period,from the past time till now.We studies the semantic of the predicate verbs in a sentence.Investigates and classifies the contents types of"X".On the part of the ellipsis of "qi"(起),we come to the conclusion that two factors affect it:one is the contents of "X",and the other is the adverb "jiu"(就).
