Vocabulary learning is an irreplaceable part of foreign Chinese teaching, which needs to be figured out by foreign students through the whole process of Chinese learning.With a improvement of Chinese study, an increment of words and a rapid appearance of synonym, words with similar senses have becoming the most difficult part of vocabulary learning for intermediate and advanced Chinese learner. Based on the CCL(a corpus established by the Chinese Linguistics Research Center of Beijing Language and Culture University) and the HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus (established by Beijing University), this paper takes intermediate and advanced Chinese learner as the object. After an inductive analysis on a pair of synonym "zhidao" and "liaojie" and an analysis on the errors involves this pair of synonym made by foreign students, this paper makes several practical teaching suggestions, to inspire teachers implement more efficient synonym teaching plans.This paper consists of six parts:Part one:Introduction. Reasons and significance of the topic selection, related research overview and demonstration of used corpus have been presented in this part.Part two:Based on the corpus, a synonym discrimination about "zhidao" and "liaojie" have been conducted from the perspective of semantics and grammar. First, from the perspective of semantics, differences and connections between "zhidao" and "liaojie" have been described. Second, from the perspective of grammar, the position and link element of these two words have been analyzed. In the end, a conclusion of all the mentioned discrimination has been made.Part Three:Considering the statistics and analysis of the errors made by intermediate and advanced students, this paper classifies all the errors into different types. According to a statistics based on the corpus, it is clear that foreign students master "zhidao" better than "liaojie". All the grammar errors has been classified into four types: missing, mis-adding, mis-order, and misuse of adverbs.Part four:Based on the type of error, causes of every error have been analyzed in details. Part five.Aim to the errors made by intermediate and advanced students in the process of studying "zhidao" and "liaojie", from the perspective of teacher, this paper proposes a practical teaching suggestion under the principle of concise explanation and various exercises.Part six:concluding the creative views and the deficiencies of this paper.
