Verbs are always of great importance in Chinese learning for foreign students. During the process of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, whether foreign students can express themselves properly has a direct relationship with the correct employment of verbs. In terms of the research on misusing of Chinese verbs, scholars often study the error from the aspect of grammar, mainly including the position of the verbs and syntactic structure. Few of them analyze the error from sense. This paper attempts to study the error of "zhidao"-category verbs in perspective of lexics and semantics, with an eye to lexical meaning of verbs. This paper analyzes the error types, explores at some length the causations of verb misusages, and puts forward discrimination methods and teaching countermeasures. The paper besides the introduction and conclusion, mainly divided into the following three parts:1. Chapter two is error analysis of foreign students using "zhidao"-category verbs. Combining the error analysis theory with language comparison, it aggregates the various types of errors in the course of foreign students learning Chinese target verbs; each type of error is illustrated with examples.2. Chapter three discusses the causations of errors. This chapter summarizes the underlying reasons of those misusages in terms of mother tongue, target language as well as study method and teaching.3. Chapter four introduces teaching measures in view of problems and analysis above.Several analysis angles, analysis methods and teaching countermeasures have been made for the teaching of Chinese to foreigners.This paper mainly studies the error of verbs usage in angle of meaning, trying to break through the localization of studying the interlanguage mainly from the aspect of grammar. At the same time, the paper is hoped through the focus on verbs meaning and language comparison to work for verb teaching.
