In the early 20 th century, Imagism marked the beginning of British and American modernist poetry. It has also made immense influences on Chinese modern poetics, especially the modernist poetry school in 1930 s. The paper mainly studied the historical facts and major feature of the impacts which Imagism had made on Chinese modernist poetry school, to figure out the uniqueness, value and significance of these impacts. Moreover, it studied the contribution and limits of Imagism’s influences as well as the development prospect of the modernist imagist poetry.Except the introduction, the paper is composed of three parts.The first part introduces the profile of Chinese modernist poetry school’s acceptance of Imagism, emphatically describes the background, processes of the acceptance and the formation of the Chinese modernist imagist poet group. Imagism didn’t prevail for a long time, but its effect was profound, particularly on the poets in 1930 s. However, many researchers confuse Imagism and Symbolism. Someone call Imagism as the late Symbolism.
