Study On Chinese Farmers’ Faith And The Policy Recommendations

Since the reform and opening up, with the development of China’s social and economic transformation, farmers living standards have markedly improved. However, the spiritual and cultural life of our beings in general is relatively faded. Under the influence of free competition and the notion of maximizing the benefits of market economy,farmers’ belief has featured by the following characteristics, social belief in Marxism has been weakened, and the problems existing in the religion, folk belief and ancestor worship has influenced farmer’s ideas and behavior.The research takes 259 villages and 3699 farmers of "100 villages observation" research by CCNU as a case to the identity of the farmers role as the breakthrough point to analysis their believe in Marxism, religion, folk belief and ancestor worship in the present condition, and finally proposed the corresponding policy recommendations.The thesis consists of four parts. The first part is an introduction, which describes the background, significance and methods of the study, including the main research on the four different beliefs and establishing the starting point of this study based on its shortcoming. In the second part, the characteristics and main influencing factors of farmers’ different beliefs are expounded. The third part is the analysis of the relationship among different faiths. Firstly, we determined variables that affect farmers’ belief according to the main factors of different faiths, based on which the author classified the belief degree of peasants and then we detected the correlation between the masses of peasants of different faiths. And then, correlation degree analysis between different faiths pattern of the relationship and mutual influence were taken. The fourth part is the conclusion and policy suggestion of the research. The conclusion goes that the folk belief is the bridge of the bridge between the religious belief and the ancestor worship, and the three presents have a relationship between each. While, the region people in, educational level and the level of economic development of villages are the important factors influencing the pattern of farmers’ beliefs.
