The Folk Belief's Influence On The Folk Wood Block Print

With a history of more than one thousand years, the folk wood block print has practical and aesthetic values blended like milk mingling with water. These carving and imprinting marks vertically and horizontally reflect one's belief, which is resulted from the folk belief. Handed down from ancient thought and customs, the ideas and images went through repetition and variation, finally take today's unique forms. The folk belief affects the block print throughout the whole process of the principal part's creation and aesthetics. The folk belief mainly influences the block print by ways of characteristics of the content, psychology of aesthetics, thinking modes of aesthetics, etc.My dissertation consists of two parts.Part one The definition, origin and development of the folk belief. Starting from the concept of belief, I emphatically analyze the folk belief, and look into the headstream and coversion of initial folk belief.Part two : The influence of the folk belief on the folk wood block print. First, to prove this hypothesis theorectically; Second, to elaborate the actual process of this influence with the employment of philosophy and psychology; At last, to conclude the actual result of this influence.
