China is a large agricultural country. The rural population accounts for a large proportion of the total population, and for a long time it will remain with large absolute numbers of farmers in our country. For the strong construction of the new urbanization and new countryside, more and more villages changed their original appearance. But relative to the economic construction in the rural areas, the construction of new rural culture is still not enough. The construction of new rural cultural is facing a series of difficulties, like the lack use of the local cultural resources, the poor infrastructure of cultural, the monotonous cultural activities, and the lack of talent. In the countryside cultural reconstruction exists the multitudinous questions urgently await to be solved.The rural teachers, who have a high scientific and cultural level, should have been apart of the power to contribute the new rural cultural. They should be the trainers of modern talents, the builders of the rural students’ self-confidence, and the leaders of the advanced rural culture. But in fact, the rural teachers don’t take participate in it. The rural teachers stay away from the village and the rural culture, and become the strangers of the village. Rural education which leaded by the countryside teacher, also more and more presents the tendency of "leaves the agriculture". For that, thinking about the rural teachers’ role and function in the construction of new rural culture, can offer some reference for new countryside culture construction.In this paper, on the basis of predecessors’ research on rural teacher’s role, I use the S elementary school and S village in ZheJiang province as a case. Through the materials collected from interviews and observations, we can realize the roles rural teachers play in the construction of new rural culture. They have became not only the boosters of the "leaves the agriculture" education, but also the strangers of rural culture and rural life field.In order to give full play of the role of rural teachers in the new rural cultural construction, the rural teachers should be provided some necessary conditions. The first is awakening of the sense of responsibility for the construction of rural culture. The second is to improve rural teachers’ living standards. The third is to reform of the rural teacher evaluation system. Finally the article puts forward the specific ways toreconstruct the rural teachers’roles in culture:implements the return local education to the student; Conducts the recreational activity using the countryside school which the villagers loved as well as oneself participates in the new countryside culture troop positively the construction.
