A Study On The Grammatical Features Of King Gesar Epic-Hor Gling Gyul ’Gyed As An Example

Epic of King Gesar is retold by Tibetan folk storytellers with their mother language as their own nationality’s pure oral literature. It is well-known for the longest epic in the world, the Tibetan ancient book of encyclopedia, the storehouse of elegant words, the treasury of Tibetan art, and so on. The themes of this epic are marvelous with beautiful words. Therefore, it is very important work to study the grammatical features of this epic in linguistic ways.This paper is mainly according to tow books of Hor Gling gyul ’gyed as an example. Ancient Tibetan grammar and the branches of modern grammar such as lexicology and dialectology as its theory to study collocations of suffixes, the features of words, the grammatical particles, and the style of wording.As Tibetan grammar, some letters make the words, some words make the phrases, and some phrases make the sentences as a rule. In that case, on one hand this paper is followed this rule as well. In other hand, it is very typical for style of wording in Gesar epic, but it is not clear to describe in Tibetan grammars as my main goal to research on. In addition, in Tibetan the grammatical particles play a big role in grammar, which separated a single chapter. All in all, twenty more suffixes, thirty more kinds of grammatical particles, and five hundreds more four-word-dep chos phrases are collected from tow books of Hor Gling gyul ’gyed.As "the expression of meaning is made by sentences; the expression of sentences is made by words", studying this epic in linguistic ways to get the style of wording of Gesar epic is depend on the words. Through these words, we can easily see a nationality’ s thought and life are related in those words. Therefore, the grammatical features of King Gesar epic is not only for the style of wording, but also for the nationality’s thought and life.
