For the basic elements role in graphic design, there is a prospective guiding significance on design practice rooted in the theory research on Chinese characters.Chinese culture is extensive and profound; while Chinese characters, as the symbol system for our Chinese nation having information recorded and transferred, is a most representative and typical research object in Chinese culture, which the form and structure characteristics of Chinese characters embody perfectly the wisdom of Chinese people. Chinese characters have undergone thousands of years of development as well as evolution. In the field of contemporary design, there is a continuous exploration and innovation on both cultural symbolic meaning and information transmission function of Chinese characters. Being a current research focus, visual designers attach importance to and are keen on the study of Chinese characters and use them in design practice as key design elements. Chinese characters is a kind of unique language of visual design, which demonstrate a status and role that should not be overlooked.Creative thinking plays a dynamic and decisive role in graphic design, and creative thinking inspires infinite inspiration as well as remarkable visual images.Therefore, this thesis aims at a theoretical research on creative thinking of Chinese characters start from relevant knowledge structures of semiotics. Besides, both semiotic characteristics and unique thinking way of Chinese characters have laid important relevant and extended meanings on Chinese characters in graphic design;creative thinking enables a continuous development of Chinese characters, which contributes to the intrinsic active components and further extends Chinese characters to a broader field.The research point of this thesis lays on the resonance between semiotics and creative thinking of Chinese characters, and thus triggers a reflection on the deep meaning of symbolization of them so as to explore the new creative thinking law of Chinese characters; it hopefully extends a development of creative thinking on other ranges and eventually grows into a complete theory research of this “Research on Creative Thinking of the Deduction of Chinese Character Symbols in Graphic Design”.
