This paper selects a local feature story “We Are a Camera” published in The New Yorker as the text for translation practice, which focuses on GoPro camera. The magazine has gained popularity among myriads of readers because of its humorously witty linguistic characteristics and uniquely profound opinions. Writing with colloquial vocabulary, literary language and interesting anecdote, this feature story is very readable. In the process of translating, the translator flexibly employed some translation strategies, such as domestication and foreignization to accurately express the message of the original text to the readers, and dealt with the difficulties in translating in line with the relevance translation theory. By demonstrating and analyzing the practical examples selected from this feature story, this paper summarizes the characteristics of the text and explores feasible translation strategies under the guidance of the relevance theory on translation.This paper is divided into four parts. The first part introduces the type and the features of the original text as well as the difficulties in translation; the second part analyzes some typical examples in translating on vocabulary, sentences and rhetoric, which expounds the translator’s thoughts; the third part takes the original text as a case to discuss translation strategy in the view of the relevance translation theory; the fourth part includes the self-evaluation of the translation, the conclusions and the enlightenment.
