Facial attractiveness means that an individual’s face can induce a kind of positive emotion and make others be willing to approach to. It is an important way to deliver the information of social affection as well as a vital index of interpersonal communication which is mostly affected by facial information. Most Chinese relevant researchers are in the area of plastic surgery and from the view of morphology, the view of quality, such as slanted eyes, plump lips and roman rose. While the researchers of Europe and America are more about quantitative ones which, however, are lack of cross-cultural tests. In the present study, two dimensions are used to find the optimal facial ratio for Chinese young females which are called height ratio(the ratio between eye-to-mouth distance and the face length) and width ratio(the ratio between the horizontal distance between pupils and the face width). There are four parts in this study in which the first three are experiments which involve 162 undergraduate subjects and the fourth uses documentary method. Refer to optimal facial ratio most people will think of golden ratio, so the first part is to verify if golden ratio is suitable for contemporary age and Chinese females. The second part is to test if one of these two dimension of facial ratio is independent of the other for the facial attractiveness. The third part depends on the results of the first two parts that there is a significant gender difference when subjects choose the optimal ratio. So in this part male homosexual subjects are brought to verify if there exists factors of sexual attraction in these two facial dimensions whose body and environment of contacting with the opposite sex are similar to male heterosex subjects while whose sexual orientation is similar to female subjects. The fourth part is to test if these two dimension is related to personalities through secondary analysis of primary materials of Wang Shuang’s thesis which are about the relationship between face and personality. The findings of this study were as follows:(1) Golden ratio is not fit for contemporary young females of China and there exist a new golden ratio:35% of height ratio and 45% of width ratio.(2) One of two dimensions of new golden ratio is independent of the other.(3) New golden ratio is close to the ratio of average face.(4) There exists cross-cultural difference on the new golden ratio.(5) There exists gender difference on the new golden ratio that females prefer dispersive ratio.(6) There exists sexual attraction in these two facial dimensions which has different attraction for different groups of sexual orientation.(7) These two facial dimensions do not play an important role in the relationship between facial information and personalities. In conclusion, there is a new golden ratio for Chinese young females and there has several meanings of theoretical and practical aspects. Also, this point can be related to implicit sexual orientation and internal personalities which can provide reference for further researchers.
