Design Research On Fabrication Process Of The Interior Space Sign Of Public Building

With the development of the sign industry, people are becoming more and more aware of the importance of identification. In today’s world, the intensive and systematic construction of buildings has become a trend, which is a major trend in the development of architecture. "Comprehensive", the expression of buildings mean a variety of activity behavior and activity space in the modern architecture[1]. Today’s urban architecture has evolved from a single function building to a large complex building of a functions collection of leisure, catering, entertainment, parking, living and so on. Building functions and space become more diverse and complex, but at the same time, it also brings the issue of information communication between people and the buildings. And the way finding system plays an irreplaceable role in the exchange of information among the construction and people. It can provide accurate and effective information for the flow of people and traffic in the building to guide them in the right way. And the design and production of excellent sign will also become a signature of a building, or even a city. But because most of the sign projects are customized and personalized for small batch, to adapt to the constantly changing interior space of public architectures. And that may led to a problem that it cannot meet the requirements of mass production. Thus causing the sign needs to be produced by a high cost, long production cycle, hard to maintain after sale and other issues. However, mass production will also result in a single product structure, lack of personality problems.In this thesis, through the study of existing domestic and international literature data of sign production process and modular design, and other relevant data to understand the current statue of the modular design of sign making. Then through the analysis and study on the urban public buildings, the structure and production process of the common interior sign in public buildings, sign projects, modularity theory and design method and so on, to figure out a design principles based on the modular design theory for the common interior sign in public buildings. And finally it will come out with a creative modular sign solution to help improve the fabrication process and development of sign industry.This thesis studies the fabrication process of common interior sign in public buildings, and aims to improve the statue of high production cost, long production cycle, hard to maintain after sale in sign industry and solve the contradiction between customized and personalized sign and mass production. It processes in-depth study on the fabrication process of common interior sign in public buildings through spot investigation, analysis and induction of research data, modular design theory and so on. To do so the main contents are as follows:(1) Analyze the development of the common interior sign in public buildings and propose the purpose and significance of the modular design on the common interior sign in public buildings.(2) Research and analyze the types of public buildings and their spatial characteristics, lay the foundation for classification of common interior sign in public buildings;(3) Analyze and induce the classification of common interior sign and the characteristic s of fabrication process of common interior sign in public buildings. Meanwhile analyze the problems in the sign projects and the design of way finding system;(4) Analyze the structure and profiles of common interior sign in public buildings to further understand its fabrication process;(5) Explore and analyze the modular design on the common interior sign in public buildings through the study of the modular theory and modular design method.By analyzing the classification rules, the characteristics of fabrication process, and the problems in the fabrication process and so on, this thesis runs a comprehensive exploration and analysis of the fabrication process of common interior sign in public buildings. Finally, it makes advices on its modular design principles and come up with an innovative modular sign solution and make a useful contribution to the development of sign industry.
