The English-chinese Translation Of Transitioning To Adult Mental Health Services: Perceptionsof Adolescents With Emotional And Behavioral Problems And A Report On The Translation

The thesis consists of three parts: the source text of Transitioning toAdult Mental HealthServices: Perceptionsof Adolescents with Emotional andBehavioral Problems, its Chinese version translated by the author and a report on the translation. This source textstudies the needs and experiences of lateadolescents with emotional and/orbehavioral problems and presents related solutions. By choosing this source text for translation practice, the author hopes to gain more experience of translating the same kind of materials and that the Chinese version will prove helpful to domestic researchers. The translation report introduces the source text, including its source, author and language features. Examples are cited to illustrate how the author and translator has tried to realize “functionality plus loyalty” in her Chinese version under the guidance of Skopos Theory, like paying attention to the differences between the ways of expression of English and Chinese, attaching importance to the reproduction of logical relations and laying emphasis on the literary grace of the Chinese version. And the report ends with her reflections.
