China has experienced a gradual increase in the international trades of medical devices with globalization and the Belt and Road initiative.User manuals of medical devices are becoming increasingly significant as they help direct the use of devices timely and lower the risks effectively.The user manuals of medical devices are more complicated as they are the explanatory texts featured with the specialized knowledge of medical field.Therefore,it is necessary to explore the English-Chinese translation of user manuals of medical devices.This report takes the English-Chinese translation of VIVIX-S 1717 V User Manual as an example.Firstly,it introduces the translation project and analyses the difficulties the author encountered in the process of text translation.Then it analyses the features of the source text from lexical and syntactic levels.Finally,by analyzing a series of cases from the lexical and syntactic levels according to the Skopos theory,the writer summarizes the translation methods adopted in the translation process.The author adopted literal translation,addition,omission and conversion according to the features of the source text at the lexical level as well as sentence restructuring and division according to the features at the syntactic level.These methods provide suggestions for the translation of similar texts in future.
