On The Poetic Wisdom Of Luo Fu’s Mutual Confirmation Between Zen And Surrealism

Luo Fu is a famous modern poet in Taiwan. His poems are not only in large quantities, but also in high quality, which few people can achieve. In the end, the development of pure poetry will reach the realm of grasping a passage without clinging to a too literal interpretation and not being soiled by a speck of fine dust.He thinks there is the possibility of integration between surrealism literature and Zen and Taoism for the following reasons: first, starting from Understanding, Zen gets the effect of aiming at a pigeon and shooting at a crow, which is similar to the view of surrealism that is cutting off the association and Reaches on communication.Secondly, surrealism works try to explore the dream and subconsciousness, attach importance to human nature, so to grasp The Inner truth of human being.Chinese Zen pays attention to pursuing clear the heart, the perfection of enlightened practice, which is also gained from the truth of subconsciousness.Thirdly, surrealism is anti-rationalism, so it advocates “automatic language”, which is similar to the manifestation mode of Zen, that is not “expressing but still understand”.Once Zen and Taoism being discriminated by the logical deduction of reason, it is easy to be distorted and fall into fantasy.As a poet with high sense of social responsibility and creation spirit, Luo Fu’s brilliance and greatness lies not only in his discovery of the identity between surrealism and Zen and Taoism, and he also tries to seek the complementary relationship between them.So he combined Zen and Taoism with a kind of binding surrealism, and created a revolutionary oriental wisdom which lies between consciousness and subconsciousness, reason and unreason, reality and surreality.He used the surrealist art technique,create satori language of defamiliarization and anti-logic,collocation type, synaesthesia type of image composition or poetic rigorous intellectual image.
