Language is unique to humans, it is also the important communication tool, it shows an important feature of a nation. Uighur language, as a communication language of Uighur`s, in the history, met a lot of languages and influenced each other, and in the process, absorbed the various features of different languages, enriched and improved itself. Human language is a common wealth. However, because of differences in age, occupation, gender, etc, there are some distinctive features about language use in different social groups.Reading history books, we can find, Kashgar, as a civilization base for Uighurs at the time, went ahead in the scientific community, supported people to master multiple languages, people also actively learned a second language__ Arabic, Persian, and even borrow many words from them. Bilingual education is being promoted today, many people are willing to start learning a second language, Chinese, deeply aware of the importance of learning Chinese, even borrow some words from Chinese. Chinese learning have already crossed the boundaries of school, got more or less into the family life. Young or middle-aged people for a variety of needs began to watch Chinese movies at home and even some students chat in Chinese at home, in order to improve their Chinese, to create artificial language learning environment. Through investigation Shamalbagh, a town of Kashgar city, we can understand language attitudes and language usage of Kashgar people. By listening to the Uighurs, we understand their idea about Chinese, for the relevant government departments to develop bilingual teaching, to improve various rules and regulations, to take measures to help. Although this survey is just of a town of Kashgar city, but it can also represent the city of Kashgar, even southern Xinjiang.In this paper, the survey is carried out on Uighurs, based on field surveys, questionnaires and interviews, etc. With the local different ages and educational backgrounds, gender of respondents interviewed, their family, social communications, language investigation language attitudes and abilities are analyzed.Shamalbag town is mostly of Uighurs, together with Han, Uzbek, Uygur constituting 85%. Language first learned by the people here is Uighur, but are also proficient in Uighur language. At home, the most commonly used language is Uighur. Most people with advanced age think their mother tongue, Uighur, is of importance, and that for their future generations, Chinese is very important, thus want their children and grandchildren to receive bilingual education of Han and Uygur. Residents’ subjective evaluation on different languages, behavioral tendencies and the actual behavior is not consistent. They desperately want their children to master Chinese, to become a person who can speak in several languages.
