Research On The Language Use Of Ili Uyghurs In Mulitlingual Speech Community

Language is the tool of human thinking and communication and it is the basicvector of ethnic culture,as well as the one of the significant characteristics of an ethnicgroup.Uyghur is the main ethnic group of Sinkiang.There are24ethnic groups in Iliwhich are Kazak,Han,Uyghur,Mongol,Hui etc.So we consider that Ili is a typicalmultilingual speech community,and because of the speech community, the languageuse of the Uyghurs who live in Ili is different from the others.The aim of this thesis is to analyse the language use of Ili Uyghur population,soas to unravel issues pertaining to language contact phenomena, and understand theevolution of language harmony in Ili society. We hope the findings will provide usefulreferences in the field of the study of China’s minority languages and language contactin multilingual speech community.In this thesis,we conducted a sociolinguistics research on the language use ofUyghur population and the language harmony in Ili society by the research methodsinclude questionnaire,documental research work and data statistics.The research results come from the statistical analysis of the linguisticcompetence, the language use at the various kinds of social communicative situationand the language attitude of the Uyghur population with different gender,different ageand different educational background and on the basis of research results,we analysethe influence of the social factors to the language use and language attitude.At the endof the thesis,we describe the manifestation of the harmonious language life of the IliUyghur population and put forward the basic condition and the effective measures tomaintain language harmony...
