A Practice Report On The Translation Of "A Set Of Rules For The Design And Construction Of Thermal Power Plants"

In order to absorb the excess capacity and realize the “Go globally” strategy, China encourages enterprises to go abroad to develop overseas markets. The biggest obstacle that enterprises encounter in international business is the language barrier. Therefore, the author writes this report to have a reference for energy companies in overseas operations.This paper studies the characteristics of scientific and technical styles, including accuracy, objectivity, logicality and informativity, and analyzes the reason for the lack of "elegance" in scientific and technical texts. This paper also analyzes the grammar and translation method of scientific and technical texts. Different grammatical phenomena can be solved with different translation methods, including equivalent translation, paraphrase and omission. Additionally, this paper studies the common typical problems encountered in translation and explains technical terms, punctuation, units, synonym distinction and proofreading translation method.Through the analysis in the above-mentioned aspects, the author believes that in order to be qualified for scientific and technological translation, translators must lay a good basis for their first language, second language and professional knowledge. For scientific translation, professional knowledge is very important. Translators must select proper and accurate words and make sure that the translation is objective, concise and professional.
