As a new research paradigm of translation studies, Eco-translatology comes as an interdisciplinary result with the global trend of ecological civilization. Presenting a distinctly fresh look for translation studies with referring the ecological ideas of “adaption” and “selection”, this theory, with “three dimensional shift and holistic adaptive selection” as its core, offers instructions for practice and a benchmark for reproduction. In addition, the reality of prosperous finance industry in China and changing economic environment in the world entail higher quality financial translation, which poses a real challenge for English majors for the greatly specialized and comprehensive nature of the texts. This paper, based on the translation of a financial report, analyzes its specific characteristics in terms of lexis, syntax and genre, and by illustrations, discusses how to achieve an effective adaptive selection in all the three dimensions of language, culture and communication. In the end, the paper concludes with the author’s reflection as a suggestion for further studies. |
