In 1843, although Marx did not explicitly propose the concept of economic ethics, when he wrote down notes on Plato’s economic thought for the first time, his economic ethics began to be shown in the text. This article will study on Marx’s thought of economic ethics and its enlightenment on the socialist market economy construction. The studies on Marx’s Thought of Economic Ethics and the socialist market economy are conducted mainly through defining the economic ethics, clarifying Marx ethical thoughts from the classical literature, and grasping the theoretical origin of Marx’s thoughts of economic ethics, as well as sorting out viewpoints of Marx’s economic ethics, and analyzing Marx’s ethical ideas of economic subject, ownership, production process and the socialist economy. After the analysis of the economic ethics of China’s socialist market economy, the idea of further strengthening the ethical construction of market economy is put forward. The standard concepts of the economic ethics, the market economic ethics, and the socialist market economic ethics are the theoretical foundations of the whole thesis. As his thoughts of economic ethics in writings become increasingly mature, his observational point as well as analysis of concepts is gradually clear. For the views of Marx scattered in his writings, this paper will sort out them through the literature review in the third chapter. The fourth chapter sums up Marx’s economic ethic ideas, focusing on ethical analysis of the economic subject, ownership, production process and socialist economy, especially the idea from the alienation of man to the liberation of man, from that man is means to that man is the goal, from class society to classless society and from the inevitable kingdom to the free kingdom. The elucidation of Marxist ethical thought on socialist economy will help the construction of the socialist market economy. The last part of this paper will explain the economic ethical problems in the socialist market economy. The economic and cultural, material and spiritual factors are organically combined in the localization of Marxism in China. The economic ethical ideas in the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics are clarified. Specifically, the idea of attaching equal importance to both economic development and ideological and cultural advancement, the important thought of “Three Represents” concerning guiding the advanced culture, and the Scientific Outlook on Development in terms of the co-ordination of economic and cultural developments, the socialist core values and the elaboration on the development of the market economy in new normal phase proposed by the new central collective leadership will be summarized.
