With the improvement of living standards, people not only care about the problem of food and clothing, but also begin to pay attention to their mental health. Now, the university students are in early adulthood, meanwhile, the university stage is also a crucial period of transformation between learning and working. Therefore, the mental health of university students is particularly important. The related researches on examining mental health find out that emotion management ability is one of the most important factors that influence individual mental health level, which can predict SWB(subjective well-being) observably. Therefore, this study aims to explore the relationship between emotion management ability and SWB. On the one hand, the theory of emotional management ability can be enriched, on the other hand, some references and implications can be provided to promote the SWB of university students.This study adopts The College Students’ Emotion Management Ability Questionnaire and The Overall Happiness Sense of Scale, 586 university students from the mainland and 461 university students from Taiwan are selected to be investigated,which is to investigate the trait of students’ emotion management ability and SWB, and to explore the relationship between emotion management ability and SWB of university students. In this study, the author adopts statistical software, SPSS22.0, to collect and analyze the valid data, and draws the following conclusions:(1) The overall condition of university students’ emotion management ability is generally satisfactory. The score distribution is homogeneous and steady. The factors ranking from high to low are emotion observation ability, emotion understanding ability, emotion employment ability, emotion expression ability and emotion control ability;(2) In terms of university students’ emotion management ability, there are some significant differences in many variables, including grade, rural and urban areas,student cadres and non-student-cadres, personality, health status and so on. Besides,University students’ emotion management ability shows some differences when in terms of gender, marital status of their parents and being the only child or not, but such differences have no statistical meaning;(3) The overall SWB scores of university students are relatively high, and thescore distribution is not homogeneous;(4) There are some differences in gender, grade, rural and urban students are significant;(5)There are positive interrelationships between university students’ emotion management ability and SWB, and university students’ emotion management ability has a significant predict effect on various dimensions of the students’ SWB.
